Janine stands for accountability—financial accountability, accountability in our facilities—and for keeping community schools open. 

Every student deserves a safe school close to home, with facilities the community can be proud of. 

Janine Plavac built GHS's highly successful medical magnet program from the ground up. 

She fights for every student—creating real opportunities for high achievers and extra support for those who need it. 

With 30+ years in education and nursing, she knows how to spot potential and help students reach it.

Janine supports  SKILLED TRADES Programs like Culinary, Automotive, Ag and  TECH TRAINING Programs like Medical, Biotech, Robotics

Janine is a teacher herself and was Alachua County Teacher of the Year in 2008.  She has 23+ years of leadership in teaching. 

 She knows a supported teacher is a district's number one asset and the best shot at student success.
